And doing them as a separate class just makes things worse, too … using up another slot in the already cramped 2da. I'm all for special Epic PrC's - but clearly, epic-progression regular PrC's are not doable :(

Nope, 2das are static so there is no adding a requirement in the middle of a classes advancement.

True, and it's probably not possible to put it as a level-up requirement halfway, right ?

(Incidentally it'd mean a 21 Wizard/ 9 Eldritch Knight becausew the feat is granted on leveling from 20 to 21, so you don't have it prior to your 21->22 levelup)

If I add that to the prestige class requirements then you can't take ANY levels in the prestige class until 21. Which means a level 30 will be a 20 wizard/10 Eldritch Knight.

Hang on a sec - don't Epic Characters get a special "Epic Character" feat at level 21 ?
Granted, this means that the transition 20->21 is not a valid Epic levelup, but at least …

No, because mages never get +21 BAB. Epic levels for prcs are on the same line as a the base class so I can't really do anything about this. The workarounds for this still leave problems so it's not something I'll be fixing.

It's not you. It's stock OEI stuff. Those are alloted to epic FBs. I found this out while testing my Frenzy Barb. I don't know what would happen if they were accessed from an epic level FB.

Incidentally, Frenzy 6 and above do not work. You can assign them but you get a non-targeting cursor when you try to use them and no access to usable Frenzy.

Not really, no. Obsidian removed the mechanism that allows us to limit epic PrC levels to epic characters. The only way to get epic prc levels is to change the max level to the epic level which means you get epic progression BEFORE 20 which is really not a good thing.

Void Incarnate isn't really possible. The mettles would require a redo of the entire set of spell scripts which I'm not keen on doing. Void presence and null strike aren't doable.

Celestial Paragon is doable. Divine Emissary is doable. Warlord of Utterdark is doable.

I mentioned some of these PrCs to Kaedrin in the dedicated thread for what PrCs people would like to see, and I think he said that a few of the 3.5E PnP Epic prestige classes are doable but others would not be possible as-written.
