Lion Of Talisid Wild Shape Problem

Hello, thanks to Kaedrin for all the work and terrific updates. Not sure if this has been brought up (couldn't search the forums very well) but it seems that if you qualify for Lion Of Talisid via Cleric (or probably anything other than Druid) the Wild Shape ability you receive at level 3 does not work. I transform for a second and instantly revert back. I'm guessing it's checking on Druid level and finding that I don't have any so the duration is 0 hours. The only overrides I'm using are the Combined RoF v2.0, Kadrin 1.34.5 and magetome 0.75. I wanted to see how a mostly wildshaped caster cleric with Natural Spell would be.

Anyone else run into this? Any work around?

Try it with my pack and not that override.

int nDuration = GetLevelByClass(CLASS_TYPE_DRUID);
nDuration+= GetLevelByClass(CLASS_LION_TALISID);
nDuration+= GetLevelByClass(CLASS_NATURES_WARRIOR);

It should be working just fine but I won't be able to test it till I get back in town after this weekend. I can't speak for what that override has done though.

Thanks. I removed all other overrides and haks and just ran yours and the Wild Shape issue has been resolved.

However, I now have a problem with the Animal Companion from Animal domain not seeming to be leveling up with Lion levels. I summon the same level 3 pig as I did at 5th Cleric level. So now I'm wondering if the Lion's Companion ability is not registering the Animal domain power. At first I thought it might be an interaction with Dino Companion, but even with a full reload and relevel, I'm not able to advance Cleric Animal domain powered companion levels with LoT.

The bad:
We don't have a real way to stack levels for an animal companion right now. I'm hoping to code up a new system soon using the dominate effect (courtesy of DedoITA) to allow a replacement "summons" for the normal animal companion. I'm not sure it's going to work as well as a real animal companion but Obsidian mentioned it would be a while before they could add a way to do custom creatures as companions.

Obsidian doesn't plan to add the ability anytime soon (if at all) so I'm stuck with only having the dominate workaround as a way to fix the stacking. This has a whole slew of issues that have to be addressed as well though so I'm in a bind on wtf to do for this.

I don't know whether this is viable or not, but Jake Zahn ( http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2Characters.Detail&id=100 ) came up with a workaround to play summoned creatures as PCs, with level progression and classes and so forth. Maybe you could use something similar? From inside the game, you'd probably have to use ga_party_add to add the creature as a party member, and then lock it in to use only "Beast" class type on level up. You'd also have to control it's experience state, since it would level only appropriate "PC owner" levels. Not trivial, but possibly easier then the dominate issues (which I don't know anything about). :)

Addendum - I think Obsidian changed the way party functions work yet again, in my brief experimentation the "ga_" scripts don't seem to work in SOZ.

It wouldn't work outside of SoZ and would require fighting the party limits cap so it's not something I plan to tangle with. Good outside the box thinking though.

Oddly enough it seems like the druid companion in SoZ's first city counts his dinosaur companion as a PC slot, because I had a single slot free and he told me to talk to him again when I had room in my party. :P
