Thought this would be something interesting for the future when Wildbow is released. Dont really have a theme other than putting damage down ranger and not relying on buffing.

It pretty much plays into getting Dragon Warrior and Wildbow without using feats to qualify. The only thing you have to pick up is Dodge and Weapon Focus (Longbow) before level 16. Grab the lore 2 for Dragon Warrior and start working on Craft Weapon from lv1 and its smooth sailing into lv30 as far as requirements are concerned. From there just maximizing the damage output with feats that increase crit range, ease of crit confirmation, AB, damage, and thats pretty much it.

Ranger spells arent all that great so you will basically be using them for entangle, spike growth to slow enemies and put more damage on target before they get to you. Some minor healing if you need it is about the only thing your going to get out of the spell list after that.

You animal companion will be severely lacking so you could invest in the new feat line to increase its level, templates, and throw some spells to buff it if you feel the need to have something tank enemies as you drop them.

Your BAB will be 25 +4 AB from level abilities so you will have to increase dex, or wis if you go Zen Archer, heavily to consistently hit heavy AC enemies. With weapon focus and a starting dex of 20 you shouldnt have any issues with hitting at lower levels.

You have a slew of class powers to play with including the ability to have arrows on the spot, change their material, hit everything in the area with an arrow witch is good for pulling aggro, damage shield, breath weapon, and a few others. Most of those have cooldowns so your rarely caught without something to help out.

Your damage shouldnt have issues as you get 2d6+5 elemental damage +2d6 sneak attack damage just from your classes. You could further increase that by grabbing up crit feats and a decent enchanted bow. Im one that doesnt normally buy enchanted arrows so I never factor that into my damage output.

You should have a 27 bab with that setup though I would drop a dragwar level for ranger 6 to get the bonus feat.

since Wildbow stacks with Ranger for weapon bonus feats you end up with 15 total levels and unless you find 3 more levels to get One Shot its a waste. And apparently my calculation for BAB lacks haha I didnt take into account is giving +1 BAB at first level of each class and just took total medium BAB levels and halved them. Fail on my part. Still I think 27 +4 +dex or +wis is plenty in most cases.

I don't know ….why not just simply 20 ranger/10 wildbow or something….in version 1.40 great spells kaedrin is releasing for level 4 ranger spells such as foebane and the like and not only will the dinausaur or your animal (if you take the feats and your spells to make it stronger…think how much even stronger it will be with that AND at its high level combined) be a joke but your skills might also be…

But I guess I have to give you two thumbs up for creativity….:)

well for a few reasons. I dont use an animal companion as an archer. Better they die before they get to me than have something tank it while I try and drop it. DW offers elemental DR of 20 witch is pretty amazing when it comes into play. I prefer more damage on my arrows going down range than a semi decent melee companion that could in a party be a real character anyway. Whats 1 more tank in a 4 man party? Im already going to have two most of the time (fighter of some kind and a cleric of some kind).

I think the build brings great stable ranged DPS to the table that doesnt rely on magic to do it.

Ranger 20/ Wildbow 10 is all fine and good for casting, but his arrows wont be as powerful. I guess its a trade off for the companion and more spells? If thats what you need to get the job done for you then by all means :)

Wildbow only stacks with ranger weapon feats right? so if you went wild bow 10 you could never qualify for bane of enemies even if you took ranger to 20, wildbow10/ranger20?

Look at kaedrins spell called foebane: bane of enemies on spell level 4 ranger :P one round per level though….

haha looks like you will need as many items giving level 4 bonus spell slots, would still like to be able to take wildbow to 10 and qualify for the feat.

I wonder…..hmmm is investing on extend spell….5 in spellcraft and unlock the secret practical extend spell….be worth it for a ranger for foebane :P it might cost 2 feats and 10 skills but think of the possibilities :P

its not so bad if you multi class into a class that gives spellcraft as a class skill also it frees up an epic feat, but im not sure if its worth it if ranger only has 1/2 caster levels, the pw that i play on has them with 1/2 caster level.
