Since there are so many new PrCs, feats, etc in Kaedrin's CC pack, I thought maybe people who use it could post what interesting builds they have come up with. :)

Air Genasi - 12 / 17 / 14 / 16 / 10 / 10

Level 1: Fighter - Weapon Finesse, Spellcasting Prodigy
Level 2: Wizard - Beetle
Level 3: Fighter - Dodge, Mobility
Level 4: Wizard - INT +1
Level 5: Wizard -
Level 6: Wizard - Practiced Spellcaster (Wizard)
Level 7: Wizard - (Learn Haste)
Level 8: Eldritch Knight - INT+1, , Skill Focus: Concentration, Combat Casting
Level 9: Eldritch Knight - Two-Weapon Fighting, +1 level of arcane
Level 10: Eldritch Knight - +1 level of arcane
Level 11: Swiftblade - Spring Attack, Swift Surge I
Level 12: Swiftblade - Still Spell, INT +1, Blurred Alacrity, +1 level of arcane
Level 13: Swiftblade - Sudden Casting, +1 level of arcane
Level 14: Swiftblade - Arcane Reflexes, Swift Surge II
Level 15: Swiftblade - Evasive Celerity, +1 level of arcane
Level 16: Swiftblade - INT +1, Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, Fortified Hustle,+1 level of arcane
Level 17: Swiftblade - Bounding Assault, Swift Surge III
Level 18: Swiftblade - Diligent Rapidity, +1 level of arcane
Level 19: Swiftblade - Perpetual Options, +1 level of arcane
Level 20: Swiftblade - Toughness, Innervated Speed, Swift Surge

I think it should be BAB 16 at the end, which is 4 attacks a round, then throw in your subsumed Haste which gives you an additional attack a round. Then you get +2 to attack from Swift Surge (+18 then), and +4 bonus to attack from Weapon Finesse (total now of +22, 5 attacks per round). Then factor in your Improved Two Weapon fighting, meaning you get another two attacks per round at a +16/+11 and the main hand at +20 now (-2). The character casts as a level 12 Wizard, which means you max out at level 6 spells. However, you will be doing melee most of the time so this isn't as bad as it seems (you can still cast stoneskin, lesser spell mantle, etc).

For Epic progression, finish out the 7 levels of Eldritch Knight then 2 levels of Fighter for more fighting feats (Two Weapon Defense, Greater Two-Weapon Fighting), then last level throw into Wizard.

well, I'm eagerly awaiting the Bard update, so I can get Bard 5/War Chanter 5/Stormsinger 10/Seeker of the Song 10. 3 Inspirations at once, oh my. And tons of different song-based abilities. So much fun to be had with an actual useful bard.

I'm currently running a new game with a LG Aasimar 14 Favored Soul / 6 Hospitaler of Helm (Bastard Sword). Seems to be working pretty well so far! :) I burned a feat on Tower shield, and I think it's been worth it. Level 9 spells and BAB 16 is good times. I can pop lots of buff spells and wade into combat, or stay back and nuke from afar (Destruction, Awaken Sin, Lion's Roar, Storm of Vengeance, etc). Also, being able to cast Banish or Word of Faith as many times as I want is great.

Here is my tentative plans for the Bard of Tomorrow~

Level 1: Bard - Feat: Luck of Heroes, Feat: Weapon Focus (Ranged Touch Attack), Inspire Courage (+1)
Level 2: Bard - Inspire Competence (+2)
Level 3: Bard - Feat: Combat Expertise
Level 4: Bard - DEX +1
Level 5: Bard - Inspire Defense (+2)
Level 6: War Chanter - Feat: Curse Song
Level 7: War Chanter
Level 8: War Chanter - DEX +1, Inspire Courage (+2)
Level 9: War Chanter - Feat: Lingering Song
Level 10: War Chanter - Combine Songs, Inspire Defense (+3)
Level 11: Stormsinger - Stormsong (Gust of Wind), Inspire Competence (+4), +1 level of arcane
Level 12: Stormsinger - DEX +1, Feat: Touch of Healing, Stormpower, +1 level of arcane
Level 13: Stormsinger - Stormsong (Thunderstrike), +1 level of arcane
Level 14: Stormsinger - Resistance: Elec 5/-, +1 level of arcane, Inspire Courage (+3)
Level 15: Stormsinger - Feat: Skill Focus (Perform), Stormsong (Call Lightning), Inspire Defense (+4), +1 level of arcane
Level 16: Stormsinger - DEX +1, Resistance: Elec 10/-, +1 level of arcane
Level 17: Stormsinger - Stormsong (Winter's Ballad), +1 level of arcane
Level 18: Seeker of the Song - Feat: Toughness, Rapture of the Song (+2 AC), Burning Melody
Level 19: Seeker of the Song - Combine Songs, Song of Unmaking, Inspire Competence (+6)
Level 20: Seeker of the Song - DEX +1, Dirge of Frozen Loss, Inspire Courage (+4), Inspire Defense (+5)

Level 21: Seeker of the Song - Feat: Song of Requiem, Rapture of the Song (+2 Saves), Song of Life
Level 22: Seeker of the Song - Subvocalize (Quicken Spell), Anthem of Thunder and Pain
Level 23: Seeker of the Song - Feat: Hymn of Requiem, Hymn of Spelldeath
Level 24: Seeker of the Song - DEX +1, Rapture of the Song (DR 2/—), Ballad of Agony Reborn
Level 25: Seeker of the Song - Feat: Epic Toughness, Aria of Everywhere, Inspire Defense (+6)
Level 26: Seeker of the Song - Dirge of Songdeath, Inspire Courage (+5)
Level 27: Seeker of the Song - Feat: Epic Resilience, Rapture of the Song (Freedom of Movement), Note of Solitude, Inspire Competence (+7)
Level 28: Stormsinger - DEX +1, Resistance: Elec 15/-, +1 level of arcane
Level 29: Stormsinger - Feat: ????, Stormsong (Great Thunderstrike), +1 level of arcane
Level 30: Stormsinger - Stormsong (Storm of Vengeance), +1 level of arcane, Inspire Defense (+7)

This Bard is supposed to stand back and provide auras (+attack and +defense at the same time, as well as a Seeker inspiration), and use songpowers to smite the enemy (Winter's Ballad costs one song, and does 15d6 AoE, a la Lightning Storm. Very easily spammable, and the reason I rushed Stormsinger to level 7.) A backup healer (not very good spell levels, but Reserve Feat Touch of Healing for non-combat use). In the epic levels, he gets access to the very powerful Seeker refrains, and finishes up Stormsinger to get Storm of Vengeance at the very end. I chose +DEX over +CHA for the simple reason that many of the refrains require Ranged Touch Attacks to connect. and the AC doesn't hurt either.

My kingdom for a wineskin! (And only the oldschoolers will get that one.)

I like the Tempest too, I'm thinking of doing a Ranger 21, Tempest 5 and Rogue 4 but there are just too many overlapping of feats, like Evasion for example.

More suggestions or alternatives, come on!

Ranger 21 Tempest 5 is a waste IMO since you get greater and perfect from ranger anyway and whirlwind frankly is overrated (although tempest whirlwind isn't quite as sucky), especially if you enchant your weapons with nice bonuses (you only get the added elemental damage from your primary weapon).

heh imo play what you want just because one or two feats overlap doesn't mean jack :P roleplay is about doing what you want not bieng "uber" thats for pvp. the 3.0 version of the tempest was built for the ranger, it was drasticly overhauled with 3.5 and dropped from a 10 lvl prc to a 5 lvl prc.its kinda like the people that complain about requirements for prcs, alot of prc's have reqs that are intentionally things people don;t take/do, thier not made to be super classes those reqs are the basis for specialized abilities, the RDD is the biggest example, you need bard/sorc not because it makes sense from a "game mechanic" point of view but because "spontaneous arcane magic is often accociated with -dragon- blood heritage, and thus the RDD is awakening that heritage"

and for the record: taking tempest for either GTWF/WW is silly, the +3 dodge bonus, and +2 attk are the core of the class, the rest is just fluff, any fighter can make up for those, whirlwind has its uses, you can up your overall damage but its highly circumstantial usually against grps of very high ac mobs you need a 20 to hit after your first 2 attacks, the lower your attk is the more use it has, also the more enemies the more use it has, low attk chars are usually ones with split stats like my DW katana build who can't use finesse for katanas but needs a 25 dex to get PTWF, perfect example of a character based off style than uber stats :P

do what you want play your own style have fun, nothing else actually matters :P

Cleric 5/Paladin 5/Fist of Raziel 10/Champion of the Silver Flame 10
Take Cleric spellcasting progression for Fist of Raziel and Champion of the Silver Flame.

End up with a 28 BAB and cast as a level 20 Cleric (24 with practiced caster). Smite as a level 25 Paladin (30 if you take the Destruction domain). Glory and either Water or Time as the domains. ;)

3 Barbarian/7 Cleric/10 Forest Master - that's something I'm looking forward to giving a try.

Caster level 15, so access to 8th level spells, the BAB isn't too hot but it ought to be sufficient to deliver some serious whacks.

A really fun build I just finished the OC and MotB with was a Human Ranger 21/Barb 1/Dread Commando 5/ NW9 3. Kind of a Special Forces Navy Seal Ranger.

Archery focused, with a two-hander for melee, 5 favored enemies, Bane of Enemies, One Shot, 25% movement speed increase, 35% when outdoors, HiPS outdoors, 5d6 sneak attack damage, superior initiative aura, protective aura, Rage when it gets hairy, Animal Companion, and lots of skill points for maxed hide, move silently, survival, set traps, craft traps, spot, listen, and search.

I decided to forgo the Rangers weak spells and started with a WIS of 8 and instead had higher INT for skills and DEX for skills and Archery. Everything else went into STR for max damage. Favored enemies didn't stand a chance.

This build was great for using different tactics. I frequently snuck in close, laid out some of my crafted traps, got in a sneak attack, used my speed to get away, blast em with a One Shot followed by a Improved Rapid Shot Manyshot, and if they were still living, took out the Falchion and finished them off.

I'll try and post a detailed build later. The only thing I wish I could have squeezed in was another level of Barb for Uncanny Dodge, but you can't have it all. Besides their are rings for that.

Just joined here but been following Matt's work since he started the whole thing but recently i but the bullet and installed the pack (PS: Matt - im still waiting for the Warlock PrCs and feats!!!). Must say im most impressed. A few minor bugs ive found but im not a good person to report these because im unpatched MoTB (have valid CD-keys and original disks but have to play with "alternate" install due to: a) Children + Starforce != good for CDs being left in drives, children like to play with them, b) Russian original disks without English language and my russian is not good enough to play a RPG with. c) i do not have money to burn to buy original English versions.

That over and done with i will just mention 1 bug here. I made a Swiftblade and the description says get all armour proficiencies. I made a character with this in mind but when i took the first level in Swiftblade i got no proficiencies. I dont think this should be a patch level problem. Guessing either a) description error, or b) 2da problem.

Now onto the reason for the post, the build!!!

I was overwhelmed with the choices i was offered but as i nearly always play characters with at least some melee presence i decided to go with a caster heavy character and therefore chose the Mystic Theurge. Also i tend to play Good or Neutral characters and decided to be and evil SOB for this one.

Name: Magus Necros
Race: Aasimar (fallen so far from heaven that even demons are repelled by him… aim is to seduce Dove to the dark side of the weave. ;-)
Stats: 10(15 - +4 from PM)/10/12/16(20)/18(20)/12 - I think… doing this from memory.
Classes: Cleric 8 (Death/Undeath)/Wizard 2 (Necromancer)/Mystic Theurge 10/Pale Master 10
Feats: Still Spell, Auto Still Spell (all, just fit these in - wear best armour possible), Practiced Spellcaster (Cleric and Wizard), Spellcasting Prodigdy, Tower Shield Proficiency (again, looking to boost that defence), Skill focus: Lore (required for PM), couple of extras that i forget.
BAB: 17 (hey, hes not melee).
Saves: Will - great, Fortitude - ok, Reflex - sucks.

Advantages: Immune to criticals, sleep, etc from PM levels. So many spells you wont have to rest much. Great against undead. With Reerons summoning fixes you can have a vertiable army of undead and summons following you around (good cannon fodder if nothing else while you get your spells off). Damn good AC if appropriately attired. Spells for all occasions especially dealing with undead (when levelling chose a lot of necromatic spells and the cleric side gives a lot towards this. Wizard provides good spell offence, while cleric gives good defence and (un)holy offensive spells.

Disadvantages: Lack of melee presence but this was the aim anyway. Low AB for touch attacks… those touch attacks are going to miss sometimes. Poor reflex saves… Energy Immunity is a must to avoid getting roasted by fireballs. Cleric abilties (turn undead, death domain avatar) are not worth using as too weak although the Shadow Mastiff Avatar makes a nice RP pet.

Overall: With the right kit and spells providing defence you should be able to sit back while your spells take care of opponents. Summons should shield you nicely from too much direct attention (although i havent yet tried TonyK's AI whereby intelligent opponents would probably concentrate on the caster).

Critical analysis anyone?

After some review, I have changed my build for the Uber Bard. Highlights are:

Human, final stats: 10/14/8/14/10/25 (Takes Charisma every level, starts at 18)

Bard 7/War Chanter 5/Stormsinger 8/Seeker of the Song 10

This gives him access to the Regeneration Inspiration, which at L30 with Song of the Heart and Epic Inspiration active, produces a +11 Regen per tick.
In addition, Inspire Courage is +11 to attack rolls and damage.
Inspire Defense is a whopping +15 AC. And War Chanter means two of these three can be active at all times.

These inspirations are truly mindbogglingly good. I can't wait for War Chanter to be implemented. :)

Mmm. Maybe I made a mistake in adding Epic Inspiration. I may change it to grant +2 instead of double.

Edit: Epic Inspiration is a 3.0 feat that was never updated and the bardic inspirations were rather weak in 3.0. NWN2's versions are VERY punched up compared to PnP so double is probably overkill.

Yet every member of his party gets that bonus. I didn't realize it would go up to +11 as I forgot they scaled the ability past 20th (which ELH doesn't indicate for Bards but the 3.5 DMG does). I was expecting +8'ish as a max (which is still VERY strong at 27th level).

IMO, yeah, it's pretty friggin good, maybe even too good. But +2 seems too weak for the requirements. I mean, Song of the Heart is +1, and you can pick it up at like, L3. Epic Inspiration requires 25 Cha (which is really a terrible thing to have in most cases. I mean, a Paladin-type could get use out of that, but a Bard, not so much. couple extra spells is really it.) If it's only +2, the Bard would be much better off going for 25 Dex and bowmanship.

What if you combined Epic Inspiration and Ranged Inspiration, while lowering the bonus?

What's this talk of level 31+? When is the cap being raised?

Re: Post Your Favorite Kaedrin PrC Pack Builds
KaedrinKaedrin 1210017501|%e %b %Y, %H:%M %Z|agohover

31+ was discussion based on if there is ever an expansion that raises the level cap further.

In pnp 3.0 the cap was +4 so the end result after the feat was +8.

For NWN2/3.5: before I added those two feats the cap was +5. Jumping from +5 to +11 in 2 feats for every member of the party is too strong. +1 for a non-epic and +2 for an epic feat still means a party of 5 (4 + 1 pet) grants each member +3 AB and damage against all enemies. Those are still strong feats for party support.

Take the epic feat Improved Aura of Despair. It requires a 25 Cha and boosts the -2 penalty to -4 for Blackguards.

The bard is already a strong class (in it's role, it's not a one person killing machine) and I don't want the power level to go overboard. If the bonus is so strong everyone has to go 25 Cha then it's too much. Bard/RDD makes it much easier to get to 25 Cha while still having insanely good physical stats (and splash Cleric or Master of Radiance for Turn Undead and the Divine Might line) and is probably too strong even with a +2.

If only the caster got the bonus I'd agree that was anemic of a 25 Cha. The whole party? Seriously?

I'll look at Ranged Inspiration and think about merging it. I've debated doing that for the Blackguard feats as well as two epic feats to get another -2 and 70 feet radius is a bit much. Range increasing feats don't seem worth the cost.

Ah, I didn't know it was 25 cha for a +2 bonus on a class that would most likely go dex or str based. Maybe it's better to let it be or cut it out, supply it in disabled state as only the most stat hungry will use it. It seems it's setting off a chain reaction of tweaks and it was originally for a much weaker bard anyway.

I'm not disagreeing, you're very likely right. lemme work out the math. recall that yes, RDD would help with the stats, but you also need 30 ranks of Perform, meaning you have to do some juggling to make the skills work out. Even a pure Bard can't pick it up until 27 just due to that.

Bard 20/RDD 10 would have Courage at +4, Defense at +5. Epic currently would make that 8 and 10, and Song of the Heart to 9 and 11. Inspire Regeneration would be a paltry +3, rising up to +7 through the feats.

lemme just make a chart here assuming a pure bard (or bard PrCs)…

Inspiration Level 20 Level 30 SotH/Epic Proposed Epic/SotH
Courage +4 +5 +11 +8
Competence +6 +8 +17 +11
Defense +5 +7 +15 +10
Regeneration +3 +5 +11 +8
Toughness +3 +5 +11 +8

Courage: +11 attack/damage for dualwielders per hit?! Eesh.
Competence: Wait, does Competence get affected?
Defense: This is prolly the most powerful thing there. Wow. 15 AC.
Regeneration: Of course, 11 regen a tick isn't bad either.
Toughness: +11 to all saves? yikes.

So making a RDD wouldn't cut into your inspirations TOO much, really. But I think the splashes of the Divine feats would end up damaging your inspirations too far. I dunno. But yeah, I can definitely see where having a pure bard/bard prcs for inspirations would quickly become just silly. Epic being only +2 isn't crippling, but as you said, the Ranged feats don't seem to be worth much on their own. Hard to justify taking them. I will note that while these inspirations are powerful now? They will be insane when War Chanter rolls out and you can get two of them at a time. Upon looking at the chart, yeah, I think making Epic only +2 might be a safe move.

It's pretty easy for me to tweak it to +2 from *2.

I may hold off and just ask the PW admins if they consider it fine or not as is or if I should change it. Personally, I think it's quite a bit too strong compared to what I was aiming for. +5 from any feat is excessive as there are no other feats even close to that (Epic Wpn Focus is +2 over greater weapon focus, etc)

Regen is every 2 rounds unless they changed it so you really only get half that value as a "per round regen."

Competence is affected by both. Gaining +8 AC and +9 Skill is a bit much. :P +3 has a much better tone.

In fact a 20 Bard/10 RDD benefits MORE from epic inspiration (any diluted, non-pure bard) as the +3 is a big jump on weak inspirations. +7 Courage vs the max of +8. In exchange they get +8 Str, +2 con, +2 Cha, etc etc. The +8 baseline is what I was aiming for as "very strong for a level 27 but not too strong" given what they have to do to get them all.

The feat being at 27 means a non-pure bard isn't likely to get both Hymn of Requiem and Epic Inspiration.

Any non-pure bard can't get Requiem anyway unless they're so close to pure it doesn't matter. a 20 Bard/10 RDD, for instance, couldn't. wait, hm, actually, I think those could. But anything beyond that could not.

I definitely concur now that I have looked at it several times, +2 is a much more sensible idea than *2. And +17 Competence is a scary thought. Especially considering Requiem bases off of Perform… yeaaaaah. Are you going to put it out in a minipatch, or wait for 1.33?

1.32.2 tonight. I don't want a different code base in the MP/Combined than the SP.

TWF-style Ranger 6/Shining Blade 10 … if the shock/holy blade applies to both weapons … smex …

Shock/Holy blade only applies to the targeted (or right hand) weapon. I'd have to think about opening it up a bit as that's a change from the pnp. That might be the "offset" for missing the third buff option that isn't doable in NWN2.

say about that debate on epic inspiration: if the idea is to nerf it to +2, why not ease off on the CHA requirement some? say 21, or 23? seems like a fair trade off…

It's +2 in game already (including the feat description). I missed updating it on the website when I made that change (which was the first point release after the feat was released
