I'm trying to craft (in OC) a +4 Natural Armour Amulet. I cast barkskin from sand (via a scroll and UMD) on the following items 1 Iron, Weak Power, Glowing Earth, and a Blue diamond as a 12 lvl caster. It says "Not high enough level", but the information I have says 12th level is sufficient. Is this a bug?

On a side note, the DC check is VERY high. I was so irrated that I, ahem, raised my UMD score through the roof just to meet the 27DC check. Is the DC supposed to be so high?

You cannot craft from scrolls. (or at least, according to the game's base rules and the description on the feat say so)

Even if the scroll functioned, there's no garantuee that the spell on the scroll is cast as a 12th level caster …. UMD only allows you to use a magic device you ordinarily could not use; it does not affect caster level.

Yume-kun is right. Scrolls can't really be used for crafting reliably due to scrolls not having a real caster level.

The DC for divine spells in UMD is equal to 25 + spell level (25 + 2 for barkskin) so yes, it's by design. Arcane spells are only 15 + spell level.
