dr stacking question

So there are some new abilities and classes with dr. The annointed knight and warrior of darkness get 3/- dr. The new feat "armor specialization" grants 2/- dr. Divine armor grants 5/- dr for a short duration.

Do these new sources of dr stack with pre existing ones? For example, a dwarven defender gets 6/- dr at lvl 10. Barbarians get dr over the course of their progression. there is the epic damage reduction feat that grants up to 9/- dr.

Do all these stack? I know that Dwarven defender dr and epic dr feat stacks, what if you added say, annointed knight lvls and armor specialization?

Hmm if i read this correctly DR stacks if it is the same kind but doesn't if it is different. Warlock DR wouldn't stack with armor specialization.

DR's from different sources don't stack (so armor and any class ability should not stack). Class abilities only stack with other class abilities if it specifically mentions that it should (and most do not).

Epic DR is supposed to stack with any natural (class based) DR because it "extends" not expands the reduction.

In short: I need to update the DR scripts for the Anointed Knight and Warrior of Darkness to account for those epic feats (stack the values). I'll add it to the WIP list.

So the dr from say, anointed night or warrior of darkness should stack with barbarian, dwarven defender, and epic damage reduction, but dr from armor specialization should NOT stack with any of those. Right?

Also, by way of the same line of reasoning, armor specializtion should stack with the inherent dr of say, adamantine armor?

No, DR only stacks if it specifically says it does. The Barb, DD, and Armor spec do NOT mention stacking so they don't. Epic DR increases are meant to stack and so they stack with *every* type of natural (feat/class based) that you have.

So if a character had the following:
Barb for DR 1/-
Anointed Knight for DR 3/-
Armor Specialization for DR 2/-
Adamantine Armor for DR 2/-

Their effective DR would be 3/- as that is the highest source available (since none of them stack together).

If you had the first feat of Epic DR (3/- that stacks) your DR's would become:
Barb for DR 4/- (class/feat, so increased)
Anointed Knight for DR 6/- (class/feat, so increased)
Armor Specialization for DR 5/- (skill/feat, so increased)
Adamantine Armor for DR 2/- (item based, no increase)

All except Adamantine Armor are permanent sources of DR so get the epic stacking benefit. If you took a second rank of Epic Damage Reduction you would gain 6/- stacked on those permanent abilities thus:
Barb for DR 7/- (class/feat, so increased)
Anointed Knight for DR 9/- (class/feat, so increased)
Armor Specialization for DR 8/- (skill/feat, so increased)
Adamantine Armor for DR 2/- (item based, no increase)

Logically they should stack (tough skin + magic oil over skin = super tough, protected skin) but the rules say they shouldn't.
